Our Mission: To help the people of Monterey County create a sustainable society that meets the challenge of Peak Oil and Global Climate Change.



CSMC is dedicated to the development of a sustainable society in Monterey County. We recognize that, in the face of Climate Change and Peak Oil, we have only a small window of opportunity in which to act.

We must work toward:
  • Renewability: Decrease use of fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources.
  • Ecology: Protect and restore the natural environment.
  • Economy: Strengthen the local economy in ways that benefit people without harming the environment.
  • Social Justice: Provide fair treatment to individuals and groups. Everyone should share in the benefits of society.
