The Oak Woodland started as an Earth Day project with Return of the Natives. Volunteers in the City, C4SM, and Friends of the Marina Parks continue to plant, weed, lay wood chips and mulch, and clean up the area. With the proceeds from the Monterey County Gives! Campaign, C4SM will:
- add benches
- add signage
- organize guided nature walks with local experts on birds, insects, and plants, providing families and children with learning experiences in the woodland
- present a workshop on Oak Trees
- implement a program for ongoing planting and maintaince of the oaks throughout the City of Marina, including in resident’s yards.
C4SM’s goal is to make the oak woodland at Locke Paddon Wetlands Park a community eco-recreational experience where visitors can learn, take a walk, or just sit and enjoy the diverse wildlife and natural beauty.
