WHO WE ARE
Sustainable Pacific Grove (SPG) is a grass roots volunteer group seeking to help Pacific Grove become more self‐reliant and sustainable.
Sunday, October 2, 2016
11 am to 4 pm
This year, our tour includes, besides the Museum’s garden, 5 local homes and 2 community gardens to highlight work in progress by people interested in a more sustainable lifestyle. Our goal is to live in a way that conserves precious resources. We capture sunlight for energy and water for thirsty soil. We enjoy growing plants and keeping animals in harmony with nature — enjoying the bounty of our own efforts.
Many people want to live in a more sustainable way, but may not know where to begin. We welcome you, and also want to meet and learn from others already engaged in various versions of sustainable living. The diverse projects you will see on the tour are based on the 3-Rs of sustainability — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — plus any number more: Refuse, Repair, Recover, Rescue, Reclaim. We might say, too, Rejoice! because sustainability adds creativity, beauty, and fun to the neighborhood while building a sense of community.
To the extent we have any great expertise, it has been from trying things, asking questions, and sharing with others. Come share with us, meet your neighbors, and get inspired!
Sustainable Pacific Grove is a group of residents in the City of Pacific Grove, CA. We are one of 9 action groups, part of Communities for Sustainable Monterey County.
